"A&E"

Shocking! I accompanied someone to A&E yesterday and this is just some of what I saw.

The Dr's need to learn how to speak to patients with mental health problems as making jokes about it with a patient who is clearly not well was disgusting. Even more so when it was clear that joking was not the right approach yet continued to do so upsetting the patient who was sitting in a corridor while he was asking sensitive questions.

While I was there I witnessed 1 lady calling for several minutes for someone to get her off her trolley and use the toilet while the staff argued over who was going to do it. I witnessed another lady fall off her trolley after the sides had been left down, the staff hadn't even noticed. One of the paramentics referred to his patient as a "Dick" and said he didn't mind someone else jumping the queue to make him wait longer.

There were a few members of staff in there genuinely rushed off their feet and trying to do their job in difficult conditions with trolleys and patients stacked up all over the place but there were also many who could do with some training on how to be nice, just because you are not next to the persons bed doesn't mean you can't be heard and others cant see the eye rolls and comments bad as you walk away.

It was a real eye opener of an experience.
