"Well looked after with two visits to A&E"

About: Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital / Accident and emergency

In the last two weeks I have had two reasons to visit A&E at the QEQM.

In both cases, despite the department being crazily busy, I felt I have received very kind, compassionate and professional treatment.

The first occasion was for myself - I arrived at 7am in the morning in excruciating pain and was very quickly assessed and given pain relief. I was in the department most of the day until I could be moved to the appropriate East Kent Ward - but was well looked after.

My second experience was with my young toddler - the minute we arrived in the waiting area a nurse took him immediately to the Paediatric area with his mother, whilst I registered our presence - he was quickly assessed and then treated by a very kind and patient doctor, who communicated so well with my son helping him cope with a very scary experience. Despite the enormous pressures on the A&E staff, I don't feel I could have asked for better care.

Thank you for telling us about the fantastic service you and your son received in Accident and Emergency. We have passed your kind comments on to the department for their information and sharing with staff. We know that staff are always glad to get positive feedback and we are sure they will be pleased to hear of your appreciation of their hard work in ensuring all patients attending the department during a busy and challenging period receive the high level of care and treatment we always aim to achieve.

Many thanks for taking the time to provide us with your feedback

Kind regards
