"A&E visit 11.04.2018"

About: George Eliot Hospital - Acute Services / Accident and emergency

I visited A&E on the morning of the 11th April 2018, i had an egg sized lump on my ankle which had appeared suddenly not through any trauma.

Some 12 months earlier i had a plate and screws to my fibula after an accident.

My worry was it could be sepsis as 9 or so months ago i spent a week in hospital with sepsis.

I was seen promptly by a very attentive nurse for the initial examination, i had xrays to confirm all was well with the screws and plate fitted a year ago.

I was shown the xrays by the consultant who re assured me everything was OK with the previous opp

I expressed my fear of sepsis to the nurse and she took a blood sample which was found to be clear.

For me the best thing was how the nurse dealt with me, she listened to my fears and made me feel comfortable , they were all dealt with i went away with piece of mind that all was OK , within about 3 hours from walking in i had a consultation, xrays, review with a consultant, and blood tests.

Very happy

Listening is an important part of patient care which can often be overlooked in a busy environment.

Thank you for telling us of your satisfaction with the care you received and hopefully you are now feeling much better.
