"Urgent care centre"

About: North Middlesex Hospital

I will never attend that hospital ever again.!! For nearly two months i have been having a bad cough which led to vomitting everyday also had problems with my left breast which caused severe pain. My gp issued antibiotics however if it didnt go away my doctor said to go A&E. I did go A&E and on my way there my breast pain got so severe that my shoulder was in very bad pain. I dropped on the floor on my way there and one of the nurses going home helped me to go A&E. I was in tears and pain and i am only 21 years old and so terrified , i was so scared and in pain but none of the members cared about my sifuation. The receptionist told me to wait and i would be see soon (took 5 hours) the nurse did not care just checked my tempertaure and wrote some stuff down and didnt even ask how i am . I was so impatient that my pain increased and i was crying and crying as my left breast was getting worse and worse , the receptionist lied to me saying that i am next in line when i was not , i waited another hour. The other receptionist helped a young boy and young girl go quickly through there process, they only waited an hour and they went home after seeing a doctor when i was there for 6 hours. Its pure racism and favoritism in there. The doctor shouts out names and when the patient respond, the doctor walks off in front without even waiting for their patient. Rude and very big disrespect i saw whilst there. At last i was seen by the doctor! And he asked me why am i here today !!! Ive been seen by nurse ive given blood and he doesnt have a clue what his patient is going through! He was kind and he got upset that i was in pain , however he just didnt care as the other members there. I saw big favoritisim and dis respect , reveptionists ignore the people waiting in line, a lady sitting next to me fainted and crying in pain kept puking but was still getting waited ! Its a joke! Its called URGENT care centre not wait 6 hours centre. This hospital should get all the ofsted there or whatever to give a good lesson to these people. Ive even made a complaint to the complaint team and hopefully something would change ! Even if it does im mever going there again even if i am in severe pain!! Improve the service and improve the doctors behaviour towards their patients! They should approach with love and care not ignorant actions.

Dear Dijle

I am sorry to hear of your experience at our Emergency Department (ED).

Patients are seen in ED in order of clinical priority, not arrival, so that those who are sickest are seen first.

A nurse initially assesses each patients by taking a brief history and basic observations to decide the clinical priority.

I will make sure your concerns are communicated to the team and the learning is identified.

I will also remind the nurses and doctors in the department when they call for the patients, that they should wait for the patient to take them to the appropriate assessment area.

When they see patients, the doctors then need to take a detailed history in order to assess you further to diagnose your complaint.

We do not support racism and I want to assure you that patients are seen in order of clinical priority and not by any other reason.

If you would like to discuss this further with me, please email Karen or Kerri in our Patient Advice & Liaison Service at northmid.pals@nhs.net with your details.

Kind regards

Vinayak Bhandwalkar

Lead Emergency Nurse Practitioner
