After waiting over a year with joint pain and stiffness, I was finally referred as an urgent referral to the rheumatologist by my GP, physio and orthopaedic specialist. I was referred in the October and only got seen in March which I know is quick for some departments however when you're in that much agony it seems a lot longer.
I then get told by the specialist in march that they could tell me the basic diagnoses but they would send away bloods and get an official diagnosis and that they would see me back in a months time.
The nurse that gave me a steroid injection said a letter would get sent out in about 2 weeks time with a follow up appointment however no letter appeared so I phoned the department only to be told the next available appointment was June!! So from getting a basic diagnoses and then having to wait 3 more months in limbo and fear of what's wrong with me I think is appalling. Very disappointing and would like some advice on what to do?
I've tried speaking to my GP and nurse specialist but they couldn't offer anymore information on the matter.
Being a health care professional myself, I think the follow up and support process has been shocking.
"Poor Rheumatology follow up."
