"TKR OP 13TH NOVEMBER 2017"

About: Orpington Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

Only time I saw surgeon was just before the op on the actual day. Introduced himself, said he would be doing the op and said he would do my other knee in a few months, as I have 2 tears needing repairing, as well as arthritis. The anethesist explained I would be having an injection in my spine, this was the first I knew about this, it had not been discussed with me previous to this. There seemed to be problems putting the injection in, also since having this I have been having problems with my back. Apart from this, the nursing staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. When I was up to eating I found the food ok, even though I mainly had sandwiches. It's a shame toast wasn't offered, I had biscuits instead. I was discharged after 6 days with meds and a phone number to arrange physio and given a follow up appointment for December. My knee did not heal well, staples were still in at 6 weeks check up. Doctor not concerned, just told to continue with physio. Rom not good, follow up appt in feb cancelled to April. April appt cancelled again until June......Not happy with aftercare, not considering tkr on other knee.
