I had to ring for an ambulance after falling downstairs at home last week.
The ambulance arrived very quickly and the crew, Vicki and Maura ( from Seacroft) were fantastic- promptly assessed me and made me more comfortable. I was very distressed when they arrived. As pelvic injury was suspected they called the HART team- Matthew and Louise who again were fantastic. I felt safe and secure when they moved me down the stairs. I could not have received better care.
I arrived at A&E at LGI - again the care was first class, I was fully assessed and given a full explanation of what was happening by everybody involved in my care. Amy the Nurse in charge was very reassuring and even brought me something to eat after I had been moved to CDU (clinical decisions unit). This meant a lot . Being in hospital isn't always about the care it's about being treated kindly at a distressing time.
I was then moved to CDU in the morning and received excellent care from Norman ( staff nurse)and a newly qualified nurse on her first shift, who was very good . Emma on nights was very thorough and kind. Again the care was first class.
I had to go for an ultrasound scan- explantion was very thorough, Sharon was very understanding.I felt unwell afterwards, so I told a member of staff, sonographer Sharon appeared and wheeled me back to the ward herself so I didn't have to wait for porter.
Summing up I am a very experienced health care professional with very high expectations- these were exceeded during my care.
