"no communication from A and E ...6 hours...."

About: Torbay Hospital / Accident and emergency

Very disappointed in Torbay ambulance and A and E

An ambulance was called and 1 hour later there was still no sign of one. Re called to get ETA and and they were unable to help with timings so we cancelled and put patient in back of car and drove carefully to A and E. Had the ambulance informed us of delays we would not have left poor patient lying on floor without pain killers and got them in car far sooner!

At A and E check in was ok as was triage. Sent straight to x ray. This process took region half an hour which i though very good. We then waited 5 and half hours to see a Dr re x ray results at now 3.30am in the morning..We would have been quicker going to Exeter.

I absolutely get it that that greater emergencies occur and ambulances are coming and going but there is just no communication or managing of expectations even after asking the reception staff and triage nurse again for an update on progress. There were several other patients all moaning of 6 hour plus waits.....
