"Rude staff"

Arrived on time for the blood test clinic only to be told they'd shut early just 5 mins before we'd arrived and won't be see anyone else as only one nurse working today.

This was for my son who had 'numbing' cream applied.

Extremely rude staff were unsympathetic and told me to complain to Frimley Park as they couldn't possibly help.

I just wanted someone with common sense to see this was not a usual case.

A sick child, on his third blood test, with cream applied one hour beforehand and arrived on time.

I was told to walk into the nurses room and interrupt her to see if she'll see him.

I felt this was very wrong so waited instead until she came out to have a polite word and see if she would have empathy for the situation.

I was told by her it's in their 'small print' that they can close the blood test clinic at anytime they like, she refused to see him, even though patients were still turning up but they were for 'combined' tests (no idea what that means but obviously far more important than a sick anxious child), I should have got there earlier and was even questioned as to why I'd left it so late in the day if it was urgent!

I'd come within 5 hours of his dr's apt, having been working 30 miles away and collected my son from a holiday club and then waiting the mandatory 1hour for his numbing cream to work...not that I should have to explain any of this to them!

I cannot believe the lack of compassion and total unreasonableness.

We did everything right and were there 1/2 hour before clinic was meant to close.

My son has worked himself up and is now very upset about having to go again. I now have to wait with our GP for another prescription for numbing cream and he is potentially getting sicker.

I'm usually a massive fan of the NHS and know how much pressure they are under.

But there is no way common sense (and a bit more respect towards the patient) should have prevailed in this instance even if we had to wait longer...child, sick, anxious, numbing cream, arrives on time, phlebotomist present to take bloods.

This child should never have been turned away, especially in such a rude fashion.
