"Well done Pheonix and well done me!"

About: Phoenix Futures / Trafford drug and alcohol services

(as the patient),

I had been sober for nearly a year and was attending AA meetings in the Manchester and North Wales areas. After leaving North Wales and all my friends there, I was struck by the terrible loneliness that most alcoholics experience when they encounter change! This of course led to thoughts of brandy and the oblivion that comes with It's overindulgence. I (the alcoholic me!) of course thought that one drink would not matter but this led me into a complete and devastating relapse that caused hospitalisation and severe disruption to family and friends.

I was at the time unemployed and had far too much time on my hands, I had thoughts of suicide and imagined, quite wrongly, that I had nothing to offer the world and that the world had nothing to offer me!

My G.P. recommended Pheonix Futures and this was the best thing that could of happened as I found that my days were now structured and full, with no time for the enemy alcohol! My key worker took time to listen and I formed some new friendships. I was sent on an Intuitive Recovery Course that helped me no end and now six months later I find myself looking for employment, back to my 'old self' with my diary full of events and meetings!

WELL DONE PHEONIX AND WELL DONE ME!

Fantastic to read how you have come through those dark days of your life and inspirational to many showing them that Recovery is possible.

I am please to read that you feel your days are now structured and that you feel work ready. I am also pleased to see that you benefited from the Intuitive Recovery course.
