"Ignorance or carelessness?"

About: Sussex Eye Hospital / Ophthalmology

On Friday 6 April my husband (age 88, recovering from a stroke and the subject of the previous review) attended the 9am follow-up appointment accompanied by my son. They were given a prescription for eye medication. NO ONE THOUGHT TO SAY THAT THIS COULD BE DISPENSED ONLY BY THE EYE HOSPITAL PHARMACY. We discovered this 10 miles away back at home. Our local pharmacy could not read the writing on the prescription. Neither could our surgery. No one could raise the hospital on the phone. As a result he has no medication until Monday when hopefully I will be able to find someone in the Eye Hospital who can sort this out. He is exceedingly anxious. We are both grateful for the careful medical treatment but totally unimpressed by this further episode.
