"Very poor communication from generally uncaring..."

About: Torbay Hospital / Accident and emergency

Having been sent to A&E by my doctor I was shocked at how little the staff communicated what was happening and what was going to happen. This is pretty basic.

And If you have a history of high blood pressure yet a recording of 197/97 is treated as "white coat syndrome" obviously you are going to challenge this - how many years and how many visits are required for the "white coat syndrome" to be dropped, and a patient taken seriously?.

Apparently you are not allowed to challenge - no matter how politely you put it!

How on earth can you possibly have confidence in a doctor who dismisses such high blood pressure?

I was in for a possible stroke, yet no consideration was given to the possibility of impending heart problems. Why not? I am no doctor, but really??

6 hours to get a CT scan as recommended by my doctor, nurses grumpy because you say you haven't eaten for 10 hours and "a sandwich is all you get". A doctor who says "I know you're tired and hungry, but so am I".

I didn't choose to be there - you did doctor!!!

Never, ever have I found a hospital's systems so poor, and the lack of lateral thinking so obviously negligent.I discharged myself because of grumpy nurse and doctor, and because I no longer cared! And I will never go back there.

Systems, people, systems, and a little good humour to a frightened patient wouldn't go amiss either....
