"My Dads care ."

My Dad is still receiving care here , or rather he was until a third fall in just over a week put him in hospital with a now broken pelvis due to most recent fall . He also has broken arm due to the previous falls . Staff seem caring and say the right thing , but don’t seem to act on anything , still waiting for social worker to take up Dads case and there seems to be a problem with staff sickness . Also ward manager never seems to be available and does not return calls .

Dear Deborah

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments about the Western Community Hospital. I am sorry to hear that your experiences of your Fathers stay at the hospital were not what you expected them to be. I will share these comments with the team.

There have been a number of changes in the team and the ward manager has now left to take up another post outside of the organisation. We have an experienced interim manager currently providing leadership to the team and we are interviewing again on Friday 27th July for a permanent ward manager. We have noted that there have been some concerns with communication with families and carers and have put plans in place to address these. I can only apologise that the ward manager did not get back to you and hope you are assured by processes we now have in place. We are looking closely at our discharge processes to improve our workings with Adult Services. There are staff who are off sick for legitimate reasons and we are managing these staff via our Trust policies and processes.

This should not however impact on the care that your father received as we cover the shifts with our own and agency staff where necessary.

I hope that your father is recovering and making good progress.

Kind Regards

Nikki Wilson
