"Miscarriage scare, rude receptionist"

About: Castleton Health Centre

I have been a patient at Castleton Health Centre on and off throughout my whole life...

I have recently moved back into the area after a few months of being registered at a surgery in Milnrow.

When i first visited the surgery on 22.03.2017 to ask about registering I spoke with a lady who was very helpful, i had told her i was pregnant and she gave me a number to contact the correct team for an appointment with a midwife. She also gave me the paperwork to fill in to become a patient at CHC. The lady was very polite and i was happy.

When i returned with my paperwork approximately a week later i was greeted at the desk by another receptionist. I found her to be generally miserable and rude... when asking me when would be an appropriate time for an appointment i asked for early morning or late night, out of general working hours... she asked me again when would be the best time for an appointment, in a rude tone.. as though my answer was not good enough. I explained again and left.

On 03.04.2018 i called the surgery again. I had started bleeding on 02.04.2018 and as this is my first pregnancy i was scared, i had visited urgent care on the 02.04.2018 and they told me to see my GP. When i called, i got through to the second lady.

She again sounded miserable straight away, i explained my situation and i was tearful and upset. She continued to tell me that there was no appointments and nothing they could do to help me. She had no compassion for me and my situation and added more stress to me at a very scary and sad time. I was very upset snd in tears by the end of the phone call.

I understand that there may be other avenues of care i would need to go down rather than contacting my GP. But as this is my first pregnancy i was just looking for sone reassurance and direction. The lady did noy help me, offer any other solutions or even a kind word.

I was so upset and feel that i needed to mention this.

This is not the kind of customer sevice that people need from those who are supposed to help them

I am now apprehensive about going into the surgery or calling them in future as i dont want to see that lady again or speak to her. I feel she is negative and is not a people person.

Thank you

Dear Patient

I am so sorry to hear that you have had a negative experience when you have needed medical attention.

In order to try and find out who you spoke to and remedy this situation, would you be willing to contact me on 01706 658905 and discuss this matter?

I look forward to hearing from you in due course.

Kind regards
