Having been taken ill on Wednesday prior to Easter GP called out and advised admission on 29 March.
Once it became clear that I had an infection in the colon, scans were arranged quickly by the ACCS doctor in ED in readiness for the surgical doctor.
Admitted to F8 where the standard of care by the complete team was second to none in my experience of working in the NHS for 30 years.
This continued throughout my stay until discharge 5 days later with OPD investigations and follow-up.
This was my first visit to this hospital and I feel that the NHS should be proud to have such dedicated medical, nursing, and housekeeping staff working together in such a cohesive unit.
My only negative comment (which I want to be seen in a positive way) is that someone presenting to ED having spent the last 24 hours with D&V associated with complete collapse had obviously tried not to bother the ED until no option was given by the GP to do so .
Therefore conversations during ambulance handover to ED where perhaps conclusion are being aired may appear disrespectful and best left until diagnosis is made.
