"Same Day Admissions Unit/Urology..."

I had to go to the Same Day Admissions Unit for a Biopsy (Urology). All the NHS staff that dealt with me were friendly, very helpful and ready to answer all my questions. Everyone worked together as one team and so the whole system worked extremely smoothly.

At the SDAU all the necessary paperwork was efficiently completed and the nurses carefully organised my hospital clothing. I was visited by both the surgeon and the anaesthetist. Both made me feel relaxed and fully explained what was going to happen. The nurse who took me to the theatre was excellent, even insisting that she carry my clothing bags! Two nurses and the anaesthetist smoothly prepared me for the theatre. I then remember nothing until waking up in the Recovery Room where two different nurses were again looking after me, taking great care to keep me comfortable. Once in Denton Ward I was well looked after, and before leaving was visited by the Specialist Urology Nurse who explained what would happen next.

I cannot commend enough all those NHS staff who worked so hard to ensure that my stay in hospital (less than 12 hours) was really stress-free and as relaxing as they could make it!
