My father was rushed in by ambulance on I think the 29th June having had to provide 24 hour care for my mother I have lost track of the days. My father sat in the Surgical assessment unit, from early afternoon to nearly midnight before we were given any clue as to what was happening until he was kept in. He stayed Buckland ward until Monday the 11th June. Getting information from the ward was impossible, basically for most of the time nothing was done.

This Saturday my father needed a Vitamin K injection but the pharmacy’s in the area had non. So we had to go to East Surrey Hospital for the injection, we were not happy with that and explained about the poor service to the District Nurse. The nurse phone the hospital explained that my father needed a Vitamin K injection and that the prescription had been written by a doctor. We were given the impression that the injection would be given when we arrived.

On arrival despite the pre-arrangements we were sent top the Rapid Assessment Unit (Rapid if you were a private company I would be complaining under Trade Description Act). My father was clearly distressed and did complain about the wait, when they finally called him to fill out the forms the first thing the nurse said to him was “ Are you mis-behaving again” That really helped the situation, anyway, after another 6 hour wait it was decided to keep him in again. It is not surprising a six hour wait is likely to make anyone ill. So instead of have his injection and having the nurse at home monitoring his INR where he can relax with his wife, we the tax payers are pay for him to stay in hospital and get worse care than he gets at home. Again no clue to how long he will be in and were are now paying all his money out to keep his wife in care. We have told our local Doctors and Nurse that we will not be sent to East Surrey Hospital in future. By far the worst hospital I have ever experienced.
