"Car parking difficult due to lack of disabled spaces"

About: Lincoln County Hospital

(as a carer),

I have a daughter with complex needs who needs surgery at Lincoln county hospital. There were no disabled spaces near the main entrance so I parked in the main car park. I had to park the far end near the exit to get space to get her out of the car and into her chair.

There is no dropped kerb access to the car park at that end. Exiting the car park to get into the hospital was not too bad as my daughter was ok. But after surgery when she was more fragile it was  impossible  to safely get to the car.

I tried to get in through the barrier as a car came out, the signs advising against this are not visible when you are pushing a wheelchair towards the barrier, the barrier came down on my head causing a painful bruise, thankfully not causing bad injury.

There needs to be dropped kerb access to the car park at frequent points to avoid having to cross the busy car park with children and the disabled.

Dear Mumtofive,

I would like to apologise for the poor experience regarding Blue Badge parking at Lincoln County Hospital.

We always welcome comments regarding our facilities and will take into consideration the issues raised.

If this situation should occur again, you can request a porter to assist by contacting the hospital in advance.

Ian Hayden,

Facilities Manager,
