About: Musgrove Park Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as a relative),

I took my 90 year old mother to the eye department, only to be told her appointment was cancelled. The doctor was off sick. I had travelled over an hour, took a day of work, petrol and car parking fees, as you can imagine i am beyond furious.

I'm afraid sorry does not cut it. Can you give me the address for my invoice, as I feel you need to reimburse me for monies lost on my part.

I am very sorry that your mother's ophthalmology appointment was cancelled yesterday. As soon as the team were aware that the doctor was unwell and unable to attend work one of the health care assistants rang all the patients on the list to try to prevent them attending for their appointments; I am sorry that she was unable to contact you in time to prevent you from undertaking your journey. Unfortunately there was no one else available to cover the clinic in the doctor's absence.

I am very sorry for the inconvenience caused for both you and your mother as a result of the cancellation, this is something that we would have hoped to avoid if at all possible. I do appreciate that it was frustrating and upsetting for you but unfortunately we were not able to provide cover for the clinic on this occasion.
