When I was 17 I was told that I would need serious orthodontic treatment for my open/underbite, therefore I was referred to Chase Farm's orthodontic department. Upon my first consultation they informed me that I would need orthognathic surgery (jaw surgery). Ever since I got admitted to this department they have been nothing but supportive of my journey, they took into consideration how low it made me feel to have a deformity and how difficult it was to eat and generally how embarrassing it was to have this condition. I am now 22, almost finishing my treatment in this department.
I have always felt that they were there if I ever had any issues or anxieties regarding my treatment and the surgery that I have now undergone. They will always find the right way to go about things and keep you very informed on your whole treatment. I am so glad that I was referred to Chase Farm, and if I hadn't had the support and the care I got I wouldn't have gone through with the most life changing experience that I've had. Having jaw surgery under this department has improved my life in ways I never thought, my confidence has grown massively, I am now able to bite into anything and eat with ease and the most major thing is my mental health issues, which were being caused by my underbite have improved drastically.
Having this surgery on the NHS is a huge benefit to not just my life, but many others who have the same type of condition. I feel very lucky to have been referred for this surgery and especially to have been under the care of the staff in this department. I don't think I'd ever be able to truly thank them for how much they did for me and although they have now opened the doors for a much better quality of life and a have given me a perfect smile which will now affect my life for the better, I will miss going to see the Doctors and Nurses who have helped me on my journey and will continue helping people in the future as well.
