About: Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital / Surgical Paediatrics (Children's Surgery)

(as a parent/guardian),

My son came in with a suspected appendicitis and after surgery on the Saturday he then spent over a week there.

The service and care my son and I as his mother experienced was 2nd to none and unlike what you would expect if you believed every story about NHS. 

Not only did they take care of my boy but also supported myself when they could see I was struggling. They were all a true credit to our NHS and I don’t believe we would have received any better care anywhere. From Gemma the nurse on charge who got me through a few rough nights, to Jocelyn the student nurse who was truly awesome and to Mr Driver who is not only superman in theatre but had a great way of communicating with my son so he felt informed and supported. All staff involved in that ward deserve the credit that is due. It is a very busy unit but not one was ever too busy to give their time. Thank you so much x

Thank you for your lovely feedback and I hope your son is now on the mend following his surgery.

It can be a very traumatic time when your child is unwell and having to deal with surgery as well as spending over a week in hospital away from home and family would have been very challenging but I am so glad to hear the staff supported you during this difficult time.

The staff work hard to ensure they provide excellent care to the family as a whole and will be delighted to receive your feedback in recognition of this which I will personally deliver to them today.
