What I liked
I came to te hospital as my baby had not moved during the day, I was told that I needed to come in immediately however, when I got there and after being on a monitor for well over an hour I was told that I should have had a cold drink (nobody told me this when I phoned) I was told how busy they were and how people wasting their time took them away from people who needed their help. The hospital floors were dirty and the person who was supposed to be cleaning had a dry mop and was more interested in talking to their friend than actually doing anything, when I pointed out that MRSA in hospitals is unnecessary and you should feel when your in hospital your their to be looked after and not have to worry about getting infections they raised their eyebrows and turned their back on me, they moped (if you can call it that) in the middle of the floor only not round any sides. I have now decided to travel 20 miles to a hospital who are more professional and treat their patients with more respect and have clean floors. I also phoned the hospital about 4 weeks before my 20 week scan was due, as I had been told that my mum was dying and as the time my scan was due i would have been 21wk and 4 days I asked if there was anyway that I would be able to have my scan slightly earlier as I was having my first baby and explained the situation about my mum, I was told that things would not be changed to fit around my social life and that they could not change any appointments, whilst I appreciate that if t was to fit in with a social event then fair enough but I said that I felt it was important to me that my mum knew that my scan was ok and maybe the sex too, I had my scan the day after my mum had died my partner explained what had happened to my mum and that I was very emotional I was told to stop crying if they were to able to see anything. I would not wish that on anybody and felt they should have been more sympathetic towards me.
What could be improved
Staff need to realise that just because they deliver babies everyday that patients can be anxious and they need to work on their interaction skills.
I would rather risk my own health and give birth at home than ever give birth in The Princess Anne.
