Upon going into the department a patient is to give particulars to the receptionist in a room full of other casualties whereupon no one has any privacy.
(A revision on window placement would be be beneficial & not too cost effective).
After waiting two and half hours we got into the side room for more detailed particulars and an individual assessment for injuries (well at least that was private).
Back into waiting room before being sent for an X-ray which only took us thirty minutes and the staff were lovely.
From the X-ray waiting room again for another three hours, by this time my friend was in real discomfort not only from her leg but also her back on which has been operated on previously, my friend also has has other conditions transplant but never complains and is well used to waiting times at hospitals.
After catching a nurse coming into view I asked if there was any way to tell on a rough time frame and was then told we were next! Great!
We progressed from a still full waiting room with same people, into a cubicle of our own where my friend was asked to hop onto a bed to wait for a GP, needless to say she was by now square to the chair she was sitting in! We waited a further one and a half hours and had to listen to stories of Wallace & gromit and from it onto tv stories and such like from the nurses, sister and doctor (doctor being singular) the rooms in there were many but only four being used. Eventually a doctor came and could not tell us if my friend had a fracture or not (which she did) and she was given a moonboot (only because the doctor wasn't sure) the nurse was lovely and gave her some crutches which have been great. But the attitude of the staff in that department apart from that one nurse led a lot to be desired. And my friend came out worse than she went in.
