From the moment I was scanned at my local surgery and informed that I had a mass on one kidney on Dec 29th I received extremely fast and efficient service through the local urology service. By mid January I had been fully screened and was informed that I had a small tumour and that it was advised that I had a partial nephrectomy to remove the tumour.
It was clearly explained to me that there was a 20% chance that the turmour was benign.
I met the surgeon on 22nd February and had the surgery on 26th February. The operation went well, the tumour was removed.
I recovered well and was home within 3 days - had it not snowed so heavily and caused transport issues I could have come home within 48 hours.
Clarke Ward was clean, all staff were courteous and helpful and I was surprised at the speed of my recovery. I have been kept fully informed throughout the whole procedure and am glad to say that the tumour proved to be benign. The NHS comes under attack frequently, but I have received fast efficient and caring treatment throught this medical 'journey'.
"thank you!"
