"Wouldn’t go there even if I thought I was dying!"

About: Basildon University Hospital / Accident and emergency

I WAS pregnant. So on the 17.03.18 I had sharp abdominal cramps, stitches when walking, and pain when walking, lower back pain which had been constant through the pregnancy. 21.03.18 I started spotting, (pink/watery) at 11weeks, I emailed maternity direct to be adviced get checked for an infection. (No infection)

On 24/03/18 I wake up with blood stained pjs, mild cramping serve twinges, serve back pain, bleeding like period, I ring 111 and they say they’d get Thurrock hospital to call me within 2hrs to arrange an appointment there. They call immediately saying they can’t do anything for me if I wish I could try a&e. I go to a&e to be seen by screening nurse, traige nurse fairly quickly 1&1/2 in total just for a blood test and to be told they will try to refer me to a gynaecologist as they don’t have scanning fercilities available on weekends. Then receptionist announces there’s a 20hr wait for majors, majors is full with minors. So after waiting hours, and dosed up on my own painkillers

I go home, painkillers ware off and I can’t cope so I go to queens (epu) to be told they don’t also have scanning facilities they do an internal and urine test and tell me my cervix is slightly open but to wait for my already Sheduled normal scan on Monday 26.03.18 I asked about my urine and they said yes it’s still showing you’re pregnant but it would anyway. The nurse assisting the doctor on this internal just blurred out “you can tell she’s had kids before” anyway I get to my scan after loosing clots blood and serve pain all weekend with no advise to be told I had misscarried they believe I had already passed baby as I had clots and there was just a sac measuring 11weeks 6days. Got took down to a ward at Basildon to Be told I’d have a blood test to check hcg levels and to come back after 48hrs to retest them. I informed them I had a blood test on Saturday which had been 48hrs so she was surprised and said we could do the retesting today then if I can find them. Found them retested me got sent home and told to let nature do it’s thing with gravity and take a home PT test in 3weeks. Get home to phoned saying I hadn’t received the right information my sac is quite far along I should have been offerd tablets or surgery so I’m being told in the phone this may still be the case and also the bloods I had taken wasn’t never sent to the lab so had to go back to Basildon the following day. The communication lack of understanding Knowledge and treatment in this hospital is outrageous. They don’t call it a university hospital for nothing. They should stay or go back to uni. The cleanliness of Basildon was disgusting we had to sit on a&e floor for ages while oppositeus was a wet floor sign with some sort of fluid leaking and spreading around it that was already there before we got there and was still there when we left. In all I had 6 blood tests over a weekend and now only two are file (god knows where) as the others were incomplete or didn’t make it to the lab. Joke!
