All I cared about was having no permanent damage to my knee after surgery, so with that in mind I did not care about any short term discomfort (although there was none). The anaesthetist in particular spent time explaining the pros and cons of general vs spinal anesthesia, which allowed me to make an informed decision. Surgeon was very professional and answered my questions patiently. Then it’s who brought me in was very accommodating and actively tried to make me comfortable by suggesting options (eg turn the lights off, get a blanket for me...etc).. key word is actively here (pls find the name of the nurse and anesthetist and relay this msg to them).
The only suggestion from me is to give the patient a test or a bit more time after waking up from the general anesthesia to make sure they are fully conscious and able to retain the memory of the post op information given out (there are leaflets to remind me, but I might have forgotten the answers to the questions I asked.
To close this sandwich up, everything went great as far as my expectations went.
"Excellent"
