"No regard for patients"

About: Willenhall Primary Care Centre - 1

The doctors have no concern what so ever for the patient's health. Quick to label them massively obese when anyone can see they are not. Any health issue, even serious ones, the only answers they have got are "you are too obese, lose some weight."

I've been to see two of the doctors here, and they don't listen.. Just dismiss me, and treat me like a time waster. No wonder I suffer out any illness and avoid the doctor at all costs.

I am sorry you did not have a good experience. Leaving you feeling you were "a time waster" and not listened to is not acceptable, never our intention, and for that we are sorry. I would dispute that we have no concern for the patient's health as our main reason for practicing as NHS clinicians in the area we do is because of our desire to work with and for the local population and see improvement in the health and wellbeing of our patients.

With regard to obesity it is our duty to inform patients when there are things they can do to improve their health and losing weight is proven to improve joint and back pain, some breathlessness, general energy levels and better the outcome of most surgery. Obesity a huge contributer to early death, heart problems, stroke, diabetes and some cancers. It is very improtant we highlight this to patients. i have artached a link from te NHS website for more information.

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/obesity/

Obesity is not a diagnosis given randomly but an objective measure based on body mass index and if you feel you have been incorrectly "labelled" then please pop in and see our nurses who can record your weight and height and set our records straight.

If you are struggling with excess weight there is help at hand in the surgery and in the local community and we are happy to point you in the right direction to get help that will best help with exercise and weiht loss.

I am glad you say you manage conditions at home as self-management is a graet skill to have. Again the NHS choices website points you in the direction of self management tips and advice about when to seek help. If you are worried about a health issue, chronic problem of acute illness that you feel needs medical advice we are always happy to talk with you and see you.

If you would like to help improve our services then please do join our patient participation group. For any further disucssion about you concers then do see our practice manager and we can move on from there.
