I attended a and e this morning after an accident while using a circular saw, It was busy but people were regularly called and assumed attended to. After nearly 3 hours I became agitated and phoned home to get picked up as I could not cope anymore. My son was reluctant to do this as he had seen the injury whereas I hadn’t.
Shortly afterwards I was called in and the nurse was very apologetic because she thought I had been brought in by ambulance.
I was then immediately seen by a doctor who felt I would need an x Ray and then be referred to plastics. Also she said the ring on the injured finger would need cutting off which, for personal reasons distressed me.
A Consultant then appeared and basically took over.
I was dealt with empathy, friendliness, complete understanding and very efficiently. They managed to get the ring off without cutting it and they stitched the wound.
I would like to give sincere thanks to the two Consultants and Senior nurse who all worked professionally and who kept me at ease all the way though the procedure. There calmness, reassurance and kindness was much appreciated.
Thank you.
