What I liked
I was a recent patient only this week, staying overnight on the Day Care Ward following Gall Bladder surgery.
I have to say the staff on the ward especially the night staff were amazing.I was on an all female ward with some elderly patients who required a large amount of care during most of the night. All staff dealt with the patients in such a caring, respectful way it was to be admired.
All staff showed a level of dedicated support to all patients with nothing being too much trouble.
I don't think any hospital stay is looked upon as being a pleasure however the experience was made so much better by the caring attentive nature of all of the staff I met during my stay.
What could be improved
The only experience in the run up to my surgery I found could have been improved was waiting time for my pre op blood the week prior to surgery.
I understand there is now a pre bookable service in operation involving G.P bookings which seemed to lead to a lengthy delay.
I took my lunch hour off to visit the blood department and in that hour only went from number 55 on the digital screen to 59.I was number 69 and after an hour of waiting I had to leave and return two days later when I was able to give my time up to wait.
The second visit was rather more straightforward and I was seen within twenty minutes.
"A staff team who showed enormous..."
