"Lumbar discectomy operation"

About: Benenden Hospital

I have visited the Orthopaedic Surgeon several times in the last 18 months and have had excellent treatment starting with nerve block injections, unfortunately it wasn’t the right choice for my problem, so in the end I had a Lumbar Discectomy 6 weeks ago, I expect like most people the thought of a back operation terrified me but once give the booklet to read by my surgeon all my fears disappeared and I released it was my only choice if I wanted to have a normal life again, I really wish I had chosen that option sooner, I feel as if I have been given a whole new life. My surgeon was amazed at how well I was walking now and commented how straight I was walking as well which was something he had never seen me do due to the constant pain. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend any one that needs a back operation to really consider it, I know it’s still early days after my operation but I felt the result of the operation straight away.
