A few weeks ago I had my lower leg amputated in Ward 11a at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. I cannot fault the excellent care I received, all of the medical and auxiliary staff were fantastic.
However, the administration left a lot to be desired. The hospital did not inform my GP that I was in hospital and what treatment I had had, when I contacted my GP recently it all came as news to him.
Following on from the amputation I was referred to WestMARC where I have had the best follow up care with physiotherapy and a prosthetic leg being made for me. in just three weeks of treatment at WestMARC I have gone from being unable to move without crutches to being able to walk with a frame. it has been fantastic.
