I cannot speak highly enough of the team taking care of me following recent breast cancer surgery.
After four months of chemotherapy, I have had two operations to remove the tumour and then was admitted via A&E on 9 March with a wound infection. Consultant was exemplary in managing my case and kept me informed of the treatment plan and generally put my mind at rest.
She arranged for surgeon to reoperate and clean the infected area and introduced him to me, giving me a full explanation of what was to be done.
The surgeon stayed late after his normal day in the theatre to carry out the procedure. This gesture was so appreciated, as another surgeon looked like he might take over, but I knew he had not been briefed personally by the consultant, whose hands I feel completely safe in.
Behind the scenes, the team ensured that I had the very best care and I felt I individually mattered to them.
How can we thank such devoted people enough for giving their own time up to help us?
Thank you to all who cared for me, but most of all my gratitude goes to both the surgeon and the consultant
