My Mum passed away in Strathcarron Hospice recently. Losing a parent is one of the hardest things we have ever had to deal with. Mums cancer journey was not the best, I am still shocked at some of the things she had to experience in a supposedly modern Scottish NHS.
Near the end Mum had to go into Strathcarron as she was too unwell to stay at home. We were nervous about her going into a Hospice as we knew that she would not come home. We cannot express how grateful we are for the love and care given to Mum, and to us, by the team in Strathcarron.
Nothing was ever too much trouble, knowing that Mum was being looked after so well brought great comfort to her and to us. It allowed us the opportunity to build great final memories with Mum and for Mum to be able to face her fate surrounded by love dignity and humour.
We will be forever thankful that there are places like Strathcarron and the people who work there.
"Grateful for their love and care"
