"Made to travel"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Why is it when I live in Kilmarnock and Crosshouse Hospital is 10 mins away am I always given appointments at Ayr, I don't own a car and a trip to Ayr hospital takes 6 buses. I understand some people have to travel further a field to specialist hospitals but this is for an orthopedic appointment. Previous appointments, cardiology and gynaecology have all resulted in 6 buses each time, this new appointment is at 9. 20 am and I struggle mobility wise in the mornings but can't cancel.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Kaz66,

In all honesty, I don't know the answer, but I can find out. It seems a bit crazy to me but I suppose without knowing more, we won't know why this is. If you would like me to find out for you, please contact me on 01563 826222 or Eunice.goodwin@aapct.scot.nhs.uk.

I am sorry you have had a few 'round trips' to Ayr for various things but hopefully we can find out why and possibly remedy this.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention,

best wishes,

Eunice
