I brought my daughter in for asessement following trauma to her right knee. When we arrived in the MIU around 2pm on Sunday 18th March 2018 there was no one else waiting.
There was a female receptionist behind the reception counter. We have visited the MIU once before and encountered the same rude, miserable, unhelpful receptionist. She obviously felt the need to ignore us for a good few minutes, same attitude as our last visit, then booked my daughter in. We were then told to take a seat and wait.
At this point my daughter asked for a drink from the vending machine. There are no price details on the machine so I walked up to the reception and asked how much the drinks were only to be told in a surly tone 'I dont know its not our machine!'
Shortly after when we were booked in a young couple with a toddler arrived. The receptionist had disappeared with no sign up or replacement. They waited in line for a good 10 mins before she returned then finally acknowledged them, no apology.
The toddler was seen before us, not an issue, and the nurse that called them did advise me that my daughter would be seen shortly.
We were then called by a male nurse practitioner, amazing care, great 'bedside manner', spoke to my daughter with compassion and made her feel at ease.
Thank you for the amazing care you provide at the MIU, I was extremely happy with our visit.
The only negative I felt the need to raise this time is the attitude of your reception staff. This is the second time I have encountered the same this female and the second time I have been treated in a disrespectful manner by her.
"MIU GRAVESEND - Excellent nursing care, rude..."
