"Telephone reminders"

About: Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust

Due to a diary mix-up, I missed an appointment for the neurology department at Charing Cross Hospital on Monday March 19.

While this was entirely my fault, I have noticed that for Hammersmith Hospital I always receive two automatic phone reminders of appointments (landline a week ahead and mobile phone two days ahead). For Charing Cross Hospital, however, this is not the case.

I wonder if other patients have the same experience, or is it just me that Charing Cross Hospital fails to phone?

These automatic reminders must do a lot to ensure patient attendance at a time when missed appointments costs the NHS a fortune.

I would be grateful to have an email explaining the position, and to ensure that Imperial will in future send automatic phone calls for all its hospitals. Best wishes, M. Duggan

Dear Mr Duggan,

Thank you for speaking to me earlier today. I have taken this matter forward with our Patient Service Centre who manage appointment notifications for patients. Once more information becomes available, I will contact you again. If you need to speak to me at any stage, the PALS team can be contacted via telephone on 0203 313 0088 or alternatively my email address is chris.henry1@nhs.net.

Kind Regards

Chris
