"Very very poor service. I regret joining MMP..."

About: Magdalen Medical Practice

Firstly, it takes ages to get an appointment. They asked me to call at 8am and I was on the queue until 8:15 am and there were fully booked for the day.

2. I needed a midwife appointment I was referred different team that was kilometres away as their midwives are full booked for months. I ended up in Lakenham a part of Norwich I have never visited. Finally the midwife i mat there did not have most of the documents i needed, did not listen to babies heart beat and was in a rush with the appointment. And it took me an hour and half to get back home.

3. .........

The list is endless I can't remember every feeling satisfied with the service provided by MMP surgery.

Please stop accepting to register new patient when you know you are struggling to satisfy or meet with the registered patients.

Dear Anonymous,

Firstly I am sorry that the service provided by Magdalen Medical Practice hasn't met your expectations.

May I address the midwife part of your comment first. The midwifery service is provided by the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. We provide them 2 and a half days of room use at the surgery. Whilst we manage the appointments for these sessions, it is beyond our control when there are no appointments left. This is why you were asked to contact the midwifery team direct. I am sorry that you had to travel across the City for your appointment. If you have concerns over the midwife's consultation you should raise them with the hospital's Patient Advice and Liaison Service at pals@nnuh.nhs.uk or by phoning 01603 289036.

We do try to provide the best service to our patients but on occasions find ourselves with no appointments left on some days. This has been especially true over the winter months. I apologise if this was the case on the day that you phoned the surgery.

I am more than happy to discuss your comments, either in person or over the telephone. Do please contact the surgery if you would like to speak to myself.

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.

Garry Mahn

Practice Manager
