Recently brought my elderly father in, suspected sepsis, diagnosed pneumonia.
Paramedics were wonderful, so courteous and mindful of my father's dignity as a person (he has dementia).
RUH was full, so we waited first in the corridor of A&E, then in a cubicle but despite the pressure everyone from porter to nurses to doctors were brilliant.
They even kept their sense of humour and gave time to deal directly with father where possible.
Eventually we went up to the Respiratory Ward, again in the corridor but that was fine as he was in a proper bed and in front of the nurses station, which I liked because he was unable to ask for help if needed.
In the morning he had been moved to a room and was washed, fed and looking so much better.
I could not fault the care he received, I was kept informed of his treatment at all times and he wanted for nothing.
I was allowed stay as a familiar face for him.
How do these amazing people do this?
The NHS is bursting at the seams, it wasn't set up to cope with people living so much longer, nor the expensive new treatments that save lives every day.
They are caring, human, knowledgable and work so hard.
Thank you very much for being there for us all.
"Just superb from start to finish"
