I was admitted to the victoria ward at barnet for 2 nights, due to preeclampsia concerns. I appreciated how the midwives and doctors were cautious and wanted to do additional checks and monitoring, rather than rushing to discharge me, I felt they genuinely cared for mine and babys well-being. It was clear that the ward was understaffed but the midwives were efficient, worked well together and provided very good care. This was a good initial experience of the ward prior to me returning for when I go into labour.
One downside is I wish their could be more transparency in communication from consultants/doctors, in regards to whether I will be kept in or discharged, it's as if the doctors didn't want to say I had to stay another night and then randomly I'd hear it from the midwife....it would be good if they could be clear from the start so as the patient I can process the information and plan accordingly.
Thank you.
"understaffed but hardworking midwives"
