"understaffed but hardworking midwives"

About: Barnet Hospital / Maternity

I was admitted to the victoria ward at barnet for 2 nights, due to preeclampsia concerns. I appreciated how the midwives and doctors were cautious and wanted to do additional checks and monitoring, rather than rushing to discharge me, I felt they genuinely cared for mine and babys well-being. It was clear that the ward was understaffed but the midwives were efficient, worked well together and provided very good care. This was a good initial experience of the ward prior to me returning for when I go into labour.

One downside is I wish their could be more transparency in communication from consultants/doctors, in regards to whether I will be kept in or discharged, it's as if the doctors didn't want to say I had to stay another night and then randomly I'd hear it from the midwife....it would be good if they could be clear from the start so as the patient I can process the information and plan accordingly.

Thank you.

Dear Mel

Thank you for taking time to leave a review; I note the issue on communication and will ensure that is fed back to staff.

The staff really do care and it is great you felt that from them.

We look forward to welcoming you once you go into labour but are here if you need us.

With Best Wishes

Richard
