About: Wythenshawe Hospital

What I liked

My father was dealt with in a professional and caring manner. He is almost 90 and was having a difficult time. Nurses, doctors were excellent and administration was satisfactory.

What could be improved

Urine bottles were left on tables for up to two hours and then food was served on the same table. Some paties put it on the floor and it was there for the whole of visiting despite nurses and assistants walking past it.

Administration could be more efficient and oxygen would not then be sent to an empty house and returned, only to be re-ordered later the same day. Air products should be notified if the patient is in hospital and relatives telephone numbers given to organise delivery.

Anything else?

Services at Wythenshawe are excellent but there are always lessons to be learned and in this day of hospital acquired infections, stale urine does not help.

Many thanks for your email and I am glad to hear that your father was dealt with in a professional and caring manner and that you felt that the nurses and doctors were excellent.

I will make sure that your comments are passed on to the relevant managers of the department.

Regarding your concerns about urine bottles being left on tables and the problems with the administration of requesting oxygen for use in the home I will ask the ward manager to address these issues.
