"Urgent Care"

I wish to thank the staff of A&E at Queen Elizabeth hospital for the care they gave my 91 year old mother after a fall getting out of bed on 11th March 2018.

On arrival the reception staff were courteous and listened well. In no time mum was seen in triage by a very kind and caring member of staff and as soon as I mentioned that mum has Alzheimer’s we were assured that she would not have to wait around for long and were directed to the urgent care centre. We had only been sitting down there for a short while when a member of staff addressed me by name ,even though we had not had to register with anyone, explained that someone was with the nurse but mum would be seen next. Mum was anxious and repeatedly asked me when she could go home but once again we only waited a short while before a lovely nurse showed us in to a private room where mum’s wound was examined and further details taken. The nurse was most reassuring and treated mum with real respect, looking her in the eye and listening to her. Once her wound was dressed he explained what we needed to do regarding aftercare and we were soon on our way. Mum does not like hospitals and it was so great to hear her on the way home saying what lovely people helped her in the hospital. There is so much negative press around the NHS, I think it is important that the staff realise how amazing they are and how grateful we are for their help.
