"Dedicated and caring Hairmyres Cardio Rehab team"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiology

(as the patient),

Having spent some time in Hairmyres Cardiac Unit and had an ICD fitted, the next stage of getting back to fitness was the Cardio Rehab programme.

Twice a week for 8 weeks spent in a gym is not something a lot of people, like me in their 70's, would normally participate in, however after the excellent care shown as an in-patient for 3 weeks, I was determined to get my fitness sorted as well.

Hairmyres Rehab physio, Donough, was soon not only putting me through physical exercises to regain fitness but with his encouragement and caring technique, also building my confidence in getting along with my shiny new built-in defibrillator.

If there's a model for professional team effort, it must be the Hairmyres Rehab group of physios and nurses who are always monitoring and always available for support of a mixed bag of cardiac patients. Everyone who went through the 8 weeks with me was of the same mind - we were being looked after by a dedicated, caring team who were aware of each patients individual needs and capabilities.

If anyone reads this and wonders about going to cardio rehab - Try it and you'll not only enjoy it you'll also definitely benefit from it.

Well done Donough and your team - you fixed me up nicely (and I'm still exercising)

Thank you for taking the time to share your positive comments.

Kind regards
