About: The Tickhill & Colliery Medical Practice

This is unfortunatly the second time one has had to say that the service by the reception staff at this practice is terrible, and that is the responsibility fo the practice management team who intruct them, rang today after being advised to see GP urgently by another health professional for a referal to a hospital, cant get in for 5 days as either booked or closed, no prebookable appointments, so even then e are told its not possible to say whether you will even be seen then; its a lottery whether you are seen or not waited over 30 minutes on the phone before it was answered to be told should ring earlier! that was 9am so given that the phone lines only open at 0830 is a challenge, asked if I could speak to a GP later same day or next, told no they are out or too busy and..

patients, including the elderly, have to turn up at 0800 to stand outside to get in a queue too be let in when the doors open and 0830 and that is in all weathers to ensure they are seen, where is the dignity n that?. Closed again for "training" half day today and half day again tomorrow, sorry but if hospitals said they were closing because of training there would be a national outcry and these surgeries are responsible for purse strings and are the door opener to other services which may be required. Training should be managed so that both surgeries do not need to close down completely i.e stagger it, feels like a 3rd world service and very upsetting when one is in great pain and suffering.

Having just read the comment we feel that in our defence the facts of today are that the training is mandatory GP training which is arranged by the Doncaster Clinical Commissioning Group.

It is Doncaster wide all practices have to attend and the telephones are taken over by the GP Out of Hours Service. We can confirm that this puts pressure on not only patients, but clinicians and staff.

We accept that this does cause disruption however we try our best unfortunately the NHS is at capacity nothing that is not widely known across the UK.
