About: Oak Lodge Medical Centre

I will be brief & to the point; accepted as a housebound patient, req to be there on a temp basis in.order to evaluate denied. Result ;some 6 weeks down the line with an untreated vascular leg infection & 2 opened swabs picked up by my carer & a letter stating will attend , in 2's to put together a "care plan"only with the advice I have a friend present for "comfort"& "sip.tea & cornflakes in the interrium.... Some yrs back one could register on a temp.basis to try out as it were a new gp, now...I have been forced to turn to.the private sector, where the locum gp shares a tel no.with.a finance company named "dolphin" ... the mind boggles , watch this space......!

Thank you for your comments. I think it would be helpful to provide some information to support the actions of the Practice. When a patient registers as a permanent patient this triggers release of their medical records from their previous surgery, providing your new GP with up to date history of your medical record. Many patients have care plans in place and this always works better when they are discussed and agreed between the patient and GP. The plans do help with communication and provides clarity with regards treatment. In addition they can help to manage expectations. In some cases the GPs may visit patients in their own homes and this can be uncomfortable for the patient. Therefore they are happy to suggest the patient have someone present to support them, some patients find this helpful, others choose not to, but it is purely patient choice.
