"Could and Should Do Better"

About: Cranfield Surgery

Trying to give an objective view without emotion attached is sometimes very difficult, so hopefully this appraisal will be unbiased.

For a start you need more doctors. 1 is not enough for a walk in surgery! I have been with Cranfield Surgery for 18 years and I live in Wootton and in the time both villages have expanded considerably. If memory serves me correct you used to have 2 doctors on in the morning! You need more Doctors!

Morning Walk In surgery is a bun fight and as I understand it its from 8:30 AM until 11:00AM and is available for 16 people and if that's correct its woefully inadequate.

Getting an afternoon appointment is really bad I phoned yesterday and I could not get an appointment this week or all of next week. You Nneed more Doctors.

The reception staff can be a little gruff but that's not surprising on how many disgruntled customers I have seen them deal with.

No email address to contact them with..thought it would be a good idea to send an email as getting appointment was so far ahead in the calendar, but alas I could not find one.

On the plus side all the Doctors without exception have a great bedside manner and sorted me out in no time.

So the one thing that I have learnt from this experience is you need more doctors to cope with the walk in surgery and to cope with the expansion of the villages

Thank you for your comments and recommendations.

The Lead GP is actively trying to recruit healthcare professionals but this is at a time when qualified GPs are looking at the various options available to them so it has been and is proving to be extremely difficult to recruit to these roles.

The system of appointments is being considered by the Practice in conjunction with the help of the Patients Participation Group.

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns and thoughts with the surgery.

Sue Carmalt, Practice Manager
