I brought my daughter into A&E last Tuesday evening around 9.45pm following an urgent referral from the out of hours doctor. She was a post operation patient (2 weeks) and had very low blood pressure, high sats and fever. She was very unwell.
I checked into a very busy reception area with the doctors letter and within 2 minutes she was called in and then triaged, then within 15 minutes she had her bloods taken and was then put on 2 drips (one for dehydration and paracetamol) and also given antibiotics intravenously. Then within another 15-20 minutes she was taken to Majors in A&E and monitored.
I would like to compliment the staff from the Receptionist to the Triage Nurse, Sister, Phlebotomist, the nurse who dealt with giving her the drips and finally the consultant in Majors who were all very professional, very helpful and caring.
Also my daughter was seen by the on duty ENT doctor, who too was very good. My daughter was cared for very quickly due to be extremely unwell and was treated with excellent care.
I would like to thank the doctors and all staff for the prompt and thorough care.
I would also like to comment on the limited space in the treating areas for patients and staff especially in the new A&E department in Queens.
Well done Queens A&E staff on the evening of 13.03.18.
You all work so hard.
