My daughter phoned 111 as she couldn't stop being sick and then her neck became very stiff and her hands were cold. We obviously thought of meningitis and arrived at A& E at 11.30pm on the recommendation from 111.
The waiting room was almost full but we found a seat. I was worried about my daughter and the threat of meningitis. When I asked the staff how long they would be they were very understanding at my anxiety. When we were seen after about an hour the whole process was very efficient. My daughter couldn't stop being sick so they gave her an injection to stop the sickness and put her on a drip. Then she was tested for so many different things. The Doctor who saw us was excellent, he explained the results of the tests and then suggested how we move on because this not being able to stop being sick happened to her 4 years ago.
I was incredibly impressed at this amazing free service. Our NHS and its staff are unbelievable. Thank you to all involved.
