I attended Ward 11 on Friday 16th March for my Lap and Dye surgery after it got cancelled the week before at Leicester Royal Infirmary.
I have got to say Ward 11 at the Leicester General Hospital is a warm, inviting and friendly area. The staff are all friendly and really calming unlike those at the TAA at Leicester Royal Infirmary.
The Ward and its facilities are clean, easily accessible and quiet which is just what you need pre and post op.
I must say a special thanks to the nurses including one nurse who was very thorough when doing my pre checks and was very down to earth throughout the day. All the nurses treated all the patients with dignity and respect.
When the surgical team arrived on the ward things got quite bust which reduced the calm ambiance (as expected) but again throughout that time the nurses were a calm and relaxing presence. All the staff treated each other with respect and no one acted superior over another person.
In relation to the post op care back on Ward 11, I arrived still groggy from the surgery and Kate did a fantastic job getting me adequately dressed and presentable before getting me to my chair to relax. I was swiftly assessed and offered food and drink (not to hurry me out of the ward or anything but simply to keep me well). By the time I felt myself again and ready to go the staff were on hand to medically assess me again, check I was safe to leave and went through the discharge process thoroughly with me,
I left the Ward thoroughly happy with the level of service and support that I had received in the day and would recommend Ward 11 at Leicester General Hospital to anyone if they required any Gyne surgery if given the choice of hospitals.
"Super friendly and relaxing ward"
