I fell off my bicycle on Monday 19.02.18 about 7.40 and sustained a deep triangular gash in my knee which penetrated as far as the muscle. I decided that it needed stitching so I went to the Minor Injuries Unit about 8.30am. I was seen almost immediately and I was so impressed by the whole service: the reception desk, the attention to detail, the determination to treat the wound as carefully as possible and the thoroughness of the treatment. The paramedic who treated me was fantastic and did everything she could to make me feel better. She sent me for an x-ray to make sure that I hadn't injured the patella (again this was very quick) and then did 7 internal stitches and four external ones. She also rang an expert at the Royal London Hospital to make sure that I didn't need a more thorough examination or referral as the wound was very deep. She cleaned the surrounding grazes and those on my elbow very thoroughly and applied sutures. The whole treatment took most of the morning and I feel that the treatment of my wounds could not have been better. I just wanted to say a huge thank you - I have never been to the Minor Injuries Unit before and I was very impressed indeed.
