"Visits to Cardiac Catheterisation Suite, Bedford"

I have recently made a number of visits to the Cardiac Catheterisation Suite at Bedford (and the associated Cardiology Department.) This has involved an Angiogram, stent insertion and Echocardiogram as well as the associated pre-op visits.

Time keeping for all appointments (except one) has been excellent.

The staff - doctors, nurses, technicians and admin staff - have been very friendly and acted in a professional manner throughout.

Procedures were well explained beforehand and results discussed quickly after the procedures. The use of modern technology to illustrate what was happening and had happened was a real 'eye opener' and really helped to explain what was wrong and what needed to be done to correct it.

The staff in the actual procedure room worked together like a well drilled team, each with their own job to do - similar to the teams changing tyres in an F1 race, but not as fast!!

Post procedure the nurses certainly kept a close eye on you doing all the regular checks required.

Overall the Suite is a credit to Bedford Hospital and I am sure much appreciated by many other patients in this area. My previous experience of Cardiac procedures took place at Papworth over 19 years ago, before the Bedford suite was operating. While I had excellent treatment there It is good to know that our local general hospital can now provide much of what is carried out there. Long may this continue.
